Deborah Phillips

Welcome

I believe children are true gifts from God. My goal as a teacher is to educate, nurture, and grow students into lifelong learners who are confident, independent, and happy with themselves and others. I am an “old school” teacher. I believe everyone deserves kindness and respect.

I was born and have lived in Gastonia my entire life. I have been married to my husband, Olin, for 35 years and have 2 grown children, Candice and Kyle. I am a member of New Hope Baptist Church. I love summer, traveling, anything chocolate, and am currently learning to knit.

I began teaching Exceptional Children at Chapel Grove Elementary School in 1985. After 31 years of teaching, I took a position for 4 years at the county level as a Compliance Lead for the Department of Exceptional Children in Gaston County Schools. I retired from Gaston County at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.  The 2020-2021 school year begins a wonderful new adventure at Piedmont Community Charter Middle School. I am excited and proud to be a PIEDMONT PATRIOT!!!!
