Welcome 6th Grade Math Students!
I am so happy to have your child in my class. With hard work and excitement, your child is going to achieve great things in math this year. I have listed below my expectations. Please read over these and discuss with your child.
I expect your child to come to class prepared every day with pencil, paper, homework, notebook, computer, and any other supplies needed for math class. ( Your child should make sure that computers are charged completely before coming to school each day.) Students are expected to come to class ready to learn and ready to participate.
I expect my students to enter the classroom quietly, sharpen their pencil if necessary, and proceed to their desk to begin their daily work. Students are expected to raise their hands to be recognized before speaking.
I send out a Remind text daily with homework assignments listed.
Homework is due the day after it is assigned. I do not give homework every day. For this reason, it is very important that you sign up for the Remind text so that you can be informed of homework assignments or other 6th grade activities. I do ask that students show ALL work on EVERY assignment. An assignment is incomplete if the work is not shown. If a student is absent from school, they will need to ask me for missing work. They will have 3 days to do makeup work.
Tests will count as 40% of the grade, classwork will count as 25%, quizzes will count as 25%, and homework will count as 10%. You will be able to keep up with your child’s progress through our PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please check it several times a week. Always feel free to contact me at any time to discuss grades.
I am a strong disciplinarian and run an orderly classroom. I expect your child to abide by my rules so that every child has an opportunity to learn. Please be involved in your child’s education. Be aware of what is going on each day. Ask your child about what they did in math class.
Please feel free to contact me at any time. I welcome your questions. Email is the best way to contact me. I can usually return email quickly.
My address is [email protected] I look forward to getting to know you and your child. We are going to have a great year!
